Australian-Greek Mezzo-soprano, Katerini Manolatos, together with bouzouki player, Costa Vasili, classical guitarist, Paul Chantrill and pianist, Larry Hammond will present “A Musical Odyssey” at Whitfield House on Sunday, 20 November at 4.30pm

According to Ms Manolatos, “A Musical Odyssey” will be an afternoon of Grecian delights featuring a nostalgic selection of Greek and English songs by Theodorakis, Hadjidakis and Xarchakos as well as traditional folk music.

“This will be Cairns first Greek concert and to celebrate we have a very special afternoon planned.

A highlight is our guest artist, Costa Vasili from Sydney who will play the bouzouki as well as classical guitarist Paul Chantrill and accomplished Pianist Larry Hammond.

Add to that, we also have yummy Greek Meze in a beautiful location at Whitfield house,” she said.

Including Greek meze (appetisers) and a drink on arrival, tickets are $55 adults, $45 concession and $35 child.

About Katerini Manolatos

Katerini Manolatos is a classically trained Australian – Greek Mezzo-Soprano who studied at the QLD Conservatorium before moving to Cairns five years ago.

Katerini has been specializing in Greek music for many years now as the love stems from her heritage and numerous trips to Greece.

She has performed throughout Australia and several times in Greece which included performing at a concert to promote the 2004 Athens Olympics.

“A Musical Odyssey” will be Katerini’s first Greek concert in Cairns.

Previously she has performed with Paradise Concerts, Taipans, Yungaburra Folk Festival, in fundraising events for the Floods and Cyclone (CWA), the Italian Republic Concert, Cairns Classical music society, Cairns Choral Society and at St. Monica’s with Larry Hammond.

Katerini will be touring Greece and Australia in the next two years as well as producing another CD of Greek music.
