Australian Federal Police Launches Workplace Diversity Plan at the Inaugural Diversity Council meeting

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) demonstrated its strong commitment to workplace diversity last week when it launched its Workforce Diversity Plan at the inaugural Diversity Council meeting.

The plan recognises the inherent benefit in diversity for the organisation.

It also builds on projects that have already been implemented to support and encourage the different knowledge, skills, backgrounds and perspectives that people bring to their work.

Commissioner Tony Negus officially launched the plan at the council meeting and said it provided a focus for integrating diversity through workforce planning, recruitment, development and retention initiatives.

“The plan will encourage all AFP members to play their part in helping the organisation to become a culturally diverse and culturally appreciative workplace,” he said.

Representatives from AFP’s diversity networks, the Malunggang Indigenous Officers Network, Gay and Lesbian Officers Network and the Women’s Network, all attended the event.
