Sydney, New South Wales, Australia (News4us.com) February 04, 2011
Australian-based business customers of British communications company, BT, will soon have access to cutting-edge ICT services, with the company launching its new facility in Sydney this month.
The Sydney Customer Innovation Showcase centre is part of an investment program to deliver communication services that support Australian, UK and multinational companies to expand into Asia and other emerging markets.
The centre will house innovative video conferencing equipment and networked IT applications, including WAN optimisation, next generation contact centres, unified communications, IP telephony and a focus on ICT innovation.
Paul Migliorini, Managing Director, BT Australasia, said a significant proportion of BT’s major Australian customers are expanding into Asia and other global markets. “We’ve found consistent communications infrastructure and support services are high priorities for businesses, not only in increasing their business efficiency, but also in lowering operational costs,” he said.
“We believe our investment in these areas will best support the growth of Australian enterprises and ensure we deliver valued ICT advice, solutions and service capabilities for the region,” Mr Migliorini said.
Richard Morris, British Consul General and Director-General of UK Trade & Investment in Australia and New Zealand officially opened the centre. He said, “The UK is Australia’s sixth largest two-way trading partner and the second largest foreign direct investor in Australia, investing AU$34 billion last year. It’s great to see British investment in Australia continue to rise as companies like BT make the most of the significant business opportunities here.”
The Showcase Centre is located at BT Tower in Sydney. Its opening follows the launch of BT’s Hong Kong Showcase in September and Beijing Showcase in November, 2010.
BT announced more than 50 new jobs in Australia would result. The company has hired more than 80 executives across Asia since September 2010, with plans to recruit upwards of 300 new professionals across the region by the end of this year.
