CNN and Larry King Live Present Oil Spill Telethon
The United Way, The National Wildlife Federation and The Nature Conservancy are the recipients of all funds raised through this Monday’s two hour live telethon dubbed “Disaster in the Gulf: How You Can Help”.
The popular and respected TV personality Larry King will be hosting the star studded event on his show “Larry King Live” over two hours and will benefit victims of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. Many celebrities will feature on the show including: famed actor Robert Redford, popular actress Cameron Diaz, young singing sensation Justin Bieber, Cheers actor Ted Danson, American Idol’s Randy Jackson, singer Lenny Kravitz, an exclusive performance by Sting, and many more.
Airing from 8pm to 10pm Eastern, this Monday night with guests visiting live and by satellite. Celebrities will also participate on the phones, personally taking viewer calls.
Well known radio personality and host of American Idol, Ryan Seacrest will host the online segment of the program called “Social Suite” for all the millions of social media users to interact through Facebook and Twitter.
A similar event back in January by King and CNN raised a whopping $5 million for the relief efforts in Haiti, which went a long way to providing much needed medical and food supplies to thousands. This Monday’s show is already gearing up to be an enormous extravaganza and a not to be missed event, set to help the many victims of the Gulf that need it most.
