Contrary to popular belief, hospice is not exclusively for the elderly. People at any stage of life may need the services only hospice care can provide.

In fact, chronically ill children suffering in third world countries are benefiting from mission work donated by hospice organizations around the globe. If support like this didn’t exist, people would have to needlessly suffer and experience pain that could otherwise be controlled.

Hospice care helps to alleviate this grim reality. Through the vital work and dedication of caring individuals, hospice care helps to relieve suffering for their patients both physically and emotionally; it can also help lessen the emotional burden on families.

“Hospice care is an important topic to cover in our Public Television series. Focusing on the needs of an individual nearing the end of their life is sometimes an unpleasant task but a necessary one.

How groups are managing care should be a priority to everyone, yet education and information is not always readily available. World Progress Report hopes to raise awareness regarding this issue,” said the Executive Producer of the series. By making sure a patient receives the proper nutrition, pain control, medical attention and loving care, hospice can provide a person with some of their happiest moments during their final days.

World Progress Report will look at the different treatment centers and medical professionals helping to make this a reality.
