Hot New Music Festival in Virginia Picks Panhandle to Lure Maryland, DC, & West Virginia

Clear Brook, VA – is the location for the first ever Hogging Up BBQ & Music Festival is set for June 28-30th, 2013.
Times run Friday June 28th, 4-11, Saturday, June 29th 10-11 and Sunday, June 30th from 10-6 and will help four non-profits.
The promoter has kept entrance fees low, only $5 on Fri and Sun and only $8 on Saturday with kids under 10 are free.
Portions of the gate will go to local church youth group and Clear Brook Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company.
The Winchester Exchange Club profits from all libations.
The promoter, Big Fat Daddy’s owner Wayne Schafer is raising awareness for CancerCare and indicates this donation will primarily come from the food sales. (There is a link on the festival page where patrons can donate directly to CancerCare or see how much they are raising.
Activities include three days of bands (from bluegrass to rock), tasty barbecue vendors, artists, crafters, and a family fun one that has everything from Cornhole to the Virginia Giant to a Blue Angels Plane.
There is also beer and wine tasting offered during certain festival times. A State Championship Kansas City Barbeque Society Contest will be happening in the far end of the field.
Unlike other festivals, after turn in on Saturday some of the teams will be happy to tell the public some of their secrets.
Normally you would have to watch an episode of TLC’s Pitmasters TV show to find that out.
To stimulate the local economy, the contest will draws judges and teams from all over the nation to the small town of Clear Brook.
The promoter said bringing this festival to Winchester was a challenge, but he remains hopeful that the festival will be able to raise money for these organizations.
