New Cairns Festival Program to Hit the Streets Next Week
Cairns, QLD, Australia – (News4us.com) July 07, 2012
With just six weeks until opening, Cairns Festival is on track to delight, entertain and inspire its community with a high octane program that has been billed its biggest and best to date.
Featuring more than 100 individual events and activities, the program comprises a blend of free and ticketed events promising something for all ages and interests – be it music, art and culture in all its forms and good old fashioned entertainment.
Cairns Festival runs from Friday 17 August to Sunday 2 September, 2012 and after six months in the making, this year’s highly anticipated program will hit the streets next week, following its official launch on Thursday, 12 July, by Cairns Regional Council Mayor Bob Manning.
The evening celebration at the Botanic Gardens Visitor Centre will be attended by sponsors and event partners who will be the first to view the 40 page, full colour program.
Soon after, 30,000 copies will be distributed via Festival venues, tour desks and shopping centres across Cairns and the region.
The program is free of charge.
For the first time, Cairns Festival’s program will be viewed in a more handy, A5 format – ideal for keeping and carrying around as the ultimate guide to what’s on during Festival.
An e-book version will also appear on the official Cairns Festival website.
“A lot of work has gone into establishing the program of events and into producing the publication, which is bound to get the excitement building for the upcoming Festival season,” Cr Manning said.
“I encourage people to keep an eye out for the program from late next week and pick up a copy early.”
While the complete program can be viewed in full from next week, there are many highlights to look forward to in the meantime: Cairns Indigenous Art Fair (17-19 August), the new vaudevillean style The Village on Esplanade (17 August – 2 September), Overflow FNQ Grand Parade (18 August), Music Botanica featuring Sarah Blasko (19 August), The Big Laugh Comedy Gala (22 August), Reggaetown World Music Festival (1 September), the Secret of Spice Spring Feast at Hanuman Restaurant(1 September) and Carnival on Collins (2 September).
