New Report Indicates Business Industry Groups Believe the National Broadband Network will Change the Way Business is Conducted for the Better

The Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy Senator Stephen Conroy today welcomed a new report which reinforces the benefits of the National Broadband Network (NBN).
The Access Economics report, Australian Business Expectations for the National Broadband Network, was commissioned by Macquarie Telecom and released today.
The report is based on survey responses from 550 Australian businesses across 17 industry groups and indicates that businesses believe the NBN will change the way they do business for the better.
“This report further reinforces that the NBN will increase economic growth and productivity across the Australian economy”, Senator Conroy said.
“Australian businesses understand that faster, more affordable broadband will provide greater business opportunities by offering new capabilities, products and services and better online communication facilities.”
The report states:
… the NBN will unlock significant gains for Australian businesses, consumers and the economy as a whole. Given its increased reach, speed and capacity, the NBN can be expected to drive productivity gains of an order of magnitude even greater than those experienced as a result of earlier ICT/broadband innovation.
“There is no doubt the NBN will change the way Australians live and work and the Gillard Government is getting on with delivering it,” Senator Conroy said.
“The NBN will allow Australian businesses to work more efficiently by cutting down on costs and enhancing capabilities. It will also open up new opportunities by allowing businesses to reach new markets anywhere in the world.”
