New Studies Show Ingredients in Sunscreen Speed-Up Cancer Growth

Sun1 New Studies Show Ingredients in Sunscreen Speed Up Cancer GrowthSlip Slop Slap the catch cry of millions around the world for safe sun bathing has been delivered a huge negative this weekend. There is a rapidly growing controversy that a possible link has been found in a certain ingredient contained in most available sunscreens and the rapid generation of skin cancer.

The implications of this are enormous on the general public, not to mention confidence in the Food and Drug Administration who has possibly been sitting on critical data from Government research studies since July 2009.

Senator Chuck Schumer a senior United States Senator from New York and a member of the Democratic Party made this information publicly available to reporters this Sunday at Hudson River Park.

The Senator continued to say that one Study carried out had found that tumors and lesions actually developed faster by up to 21 percent in lab animals coated with these sunscreens. The element causing the fear is retinyl palmitate, a derivative of vitamin A and included in the top 500 popular sunscreens.

Senator Schumer also stated “If the product is doing more harm than good, people have a right to know – and the FDA must take action!”

Schumer does have his critics, especially within the beauty-products industry who have called his comments misleading as well as misguided. Senator Schumer has clarified that he is not recommending that people stop using sunscreens altogether, rather for people to start checking the ingredient listings on sunscreen containers, and steer clear of any utilising the compound retinyl palmitate.
