Bend, OR (News4us.com) January 14, 2011
Road Trips for Families, an online travel magazine focusing on road trip travel, announced their top 10 picks for family-friendly winter festivals. Included on the list was Bend, Oregon’s annual Bend WinterFest.
“Bend WinterFest is the largest winter festival in the Pacific Northwest, and it brings a lot of great winter tourism to our area,” noted Lynnette Braillard, Marketing Director for Visit Bend. “Tourists and locals alike love WinterFest, and we’re thrilled with the national recognition it’s receiving.”
Bend WinterFest is an annual festival in Bend, Oregon that has become the President’s Day weekend destination event for tourists from San Francisco to Seattle and beyond. Presented by Mt. Bachelor and produced by Lay it Out Events, the OnPoint Community Credit Union WinterFest runs February 18 to 20, 2011 and features the biggest off-mountain rail jam west of the Mississippi.
Returning this year is Metal Mulisha, the famous freestyle motocross team that wowed crowds with their death defying tricks. New to this year’s WinterFest is an event called Nordic SprinterFest, a Nordic ski race around the perimeter of RailJam featuring elite individual, high school, and relay team competitions.
“Winter is one of our favorite times to attend festivals,” said Julie Henning, Feed Me editor at Road Trips for Families. “My family lives in the Midwest, so we have to embrace the winter. Even though the weather can be challenging, it’s better to get out and enjoy the season and spend family time learning new sports or just kicking back and enjoying some festival food.”
