People’s Choice Awards Open, Voters Urged to Become Friends of the Shout Out for Climate Change Competition on Facebook

Minister for Climate Change and Energy Efficiency, Greg Combet today opened the People’s Choice Awards saying he was impressed by the overwhelming response to the competition.
“I encourage all Australians to get online today, vote for your favourite advertisement in the People’s Choice Awards, become a friend of the Shout Out for Climate Change competition on Facebook and share your favourite entries with friends and family.”
The Shout Out for Climate Change competition was launched in May this year, and entries closed on 10 September 2010. More than 2,300 students submitted entries in the form of an original artistic piece like a song, poem, photograph or piece of artwork (primary students) or an original video advertisement (secondary and tertiary students).
Shortlisting and judging is currently underway – the category winners will be chosen by a panel including Brooke Satchwell, Actress and Environmentalist; Tanya Ha, Television Presenter, Author and Environmentalist; Mike Daniels, Managing Director Ogilvy & Mather Sydney; Nick Cummins, Creative Director, DDB Melbourne; Rosalind Willett, Managing Partner, Willett Marketing; Leanne Webb, scientist CSIRO; and Steve Kearney and Miriam Hosking, who are both teachers.
