Struggling with Weight? – New Podcast Helps People Break Free from Emotional Eating
(News4us.com) April 19, 2013
Win The Diet War, a free podcast available for subscription in iTunes under the Health/Self Help category, has released the latest in an ongoing series of motivational episodes.
The show is geared towards men and women who seek to end the cycle of dieting for good.
Podcast host Dr. Nina Savelle-Rocklin, Psy.D. explains that the way to stop yo-yo dieting is to process the underlying conflicts and beliefs that lead to emotional eating.
She points out that these issues go beyond difficult or painful emotions and involve thoughts, beliefs and perceptions about ourselves and others.
Often these ideas are out of awareness, but not out of operation.
Dr. Nina helps listeners manage their weight by identifying and working through what’s “eating at” them rather than focusing on what they’re eating.
In the newest episode, titled “Gain Confidence & Lose Weight” she explores the relationship between self-esteem and overeating.
Dr. Nina demonstrates that the way we relate to ourselves has a direct impact on our sense of self, which in turn impact our relationship to food.
She expands on the various elements that compromise self-esteem, offering ways to improve confidence and enhance self-acceptance.
Dr. Nina says, “Losing weight won’t make you truly confident in a lasting way, but confidence can definitely help you lose weight.”
She clarifies that when you feel good about yourself, you’re less likely to overeat, which leads to more permanent weight loss. As she puts it, “You don’t have to diet to lose weight.”
