OrvisNews.com now offers the content that the original Orvis News print publication put out, but in a daily format.
“OrvisNews.com allows us to take what we have already been doing in print with the original Orvis News for 40 years and turn it into a blog so that our readers can communicate with us and we can engage with them,” said James Hathaway, Senior Manager of Communications at Orvis. “It’s time to turn the monologue into a dialogue.”
The site already features podcasts by expert fly fishing instructor Tom Rosenbauer, hunting blogs by Simon Perkins, and fishing instruction news posts by Phil Monohan former editor of American Angler Magazine. All of whom will be regular contributors to the site.
Another important aspect of OrvisNews.com is that it will provide a forum by which readers can be part of the conversation surrounding conservation efforts made by Orvis and its collaborating partners.
“One of our goals is to use OrvisNews.com to be able to send out conservation alerts and let our readers know about projects and important issues that really need a boost,” Hathaway said.
Through OrvisNews.com the Orvis brand will provide material that will appeal to readers with varied interests related to the sporting life. It will also showcase the breadth of experience that Orvis and its partners offer.
Orvis has been the premier outfitter of the distinctive country lifestyle and sporting traditions since 1856.
