U.S. Take Last Shot to Advance in Fifa World Cup on Wednesday

This is it for the United States. In what can only be described as a do or die match, the American team will take on Algeria on Wednesday in the World Cup in Africa. They must win this match and help consolidate their improving reputation among the final 16 teams.

This is where they must make their stand and show the billions of fans around the world that they are capable of living up to all the hype that has been bestowed on them during this worldwide sporting event. The teams that enter this competition work very hard and train for long arduous hours just to get in and then it can all be taken away so quickly.

At this point of the Cup, advancing is all the teams have on their minds and the pressure can break the best of players on the field. The United States must win this game or at least draw to move forward into the all important knockout rounds.

With their first match against the European powerhouse England ending in a draw 1-1. Then trailing Slovenia in their second match by a demoralizing two goals at half time, only to make what can only be described as an inspiring and enormous comeback effort to even the score 2-2. The U.S. would have won that game if it was not for a disallowed goal in the late 85th minute.

Soccer in America could use this win to help boost its popularity and ensure the games continuing overall growth among the nation’s up and coming youth.

The U.S. has not come face to face with the Algerians before, who are more commonly known as the “Desert Foxes” and must win this match to advance any further. So the pressure is very high for both teams but even more for the Algerians who can’t afford to slip up.

Has the U.S. got the will power and the necessary skills to take out Algeria and move on to the next round where they will play either one of four countries Australia, Germany, Ghana, or Serbia?

Time will tell.
